- In this movie we'll look at how guides work in Affinity Publisher. There are several types of guides in Publisher to help you arrange items on your page precisely. Let's start with Ruler Guides. To show the Ruler, I'll choose View, Show Rulers, and now with the Move tool, I can drag ruler guides out onto the canvas. Drag from a horizontal ruler to make a horizontal guide. Drag from the vertical ruler to make a vertical guide. When you have the Move tool, you can just drag a guide on the canvas to move it. But if you any other tool, like say the Note tool, you can't drag a guide on the canvas, but you can't move a guide by dragging it on the ruler itself. You can also drag new ruler guides out when you have any tool. But remember, to drag a guide on the canvas, you need the Move tool. You can see the position of the guide update as you drag in terms of your current document units. I'm using Inches right now, but…
