What is empathy?
- This is a talk about design with no design in it. It's not about typography or color or software, any of the usual design-related themes. Instead, it's about the interpersonal relationships that are often the never discussed, yet all important subtext of every design project. This course is about empathy, how to employ it, and how you can make all of the relationships around a project work better, and how it can add depth and resonance to your work. Empathy is about really understanding another person's perspective, feelings, and motivations, and a challenge with someone with whom you think you have little, if anything, in common. On one level, it's about realizing that we actually have some common ground with everyone and making the effort to find these commonalities.
