What is the front matter? - InDesign Tutorial
From the course: Designing a Book
What is the front matter?
- [Nigel] So now that our text and our illustrations are complete, we can turn our attention to the front matter. What do we mean by front matter? In the case of this book, and I'm following convention here, we will begin with a title page. After the title page, we will have the copyright page. On the copyright page I'm also going to include the colophon, publishing information. This book has two dedications, so facing the copyright page we will have the first of those dedications followed by a blank page, then the second dedication, followed by another blank page, and then the first of our content page. We will be auto-generating the table of contents, and this is going to run to two pages. After the contents, we will also auto-generate a list of illustrations, which again, will run to two pages. After the second page of the illustrations, we will have the half title, followed by a blank page, and then we begin the text itself with chapter one.
