- [Instructor] Let's begin our look at text styles in Affinity Publisher by seeing how paragraph styles work. If you want to create professional quality layouts with consistent text formatting and do it efficiently, then you absolutely need to be using text styles. In Affinity Publisher there are three kinds of text styles: paragraph styles, character styles, and group styles. Group styles are a special case that we'll look at in a later movie, but paragraph and character styles are very similar. In fact, they're almost interchangeable. You can apply either one to any range of text. The only difference is that paragraph styles contain an extra set of attributes that apply to an entire paragraph. Things like hyphenation and justification, spacing before and after the paragraph, and tab stops. So let's create and apply some paragraph styles to format this text.
