- [Interviewer] So you did "The Brand Gap," and would it be fair to say that was successful? - [Marty] That, yeah. Even my publisher said so. I was, you know, when I wrote it, I wrote it purposefully to be bold and break the mold, because I thought, I'm desperate here. (both laugh) I can't hit a single. I got to hit a home run or at least a triple, and it's not going to happen if I just kind of do another book, even, no matter how polished it is, it's not going to matter. It has to be like, whoa, you know? What is this about, you know? And so I said, okay, it's going to be a strikeout or a home run. That's what I'm going for. And even as I was finishing it up, I was going kind of, I don't even like this. It just doesn't seem very good. I was just having all kinds of doubts.
