The joy of letting go
- So when we're talking about liberating our creative flow, it's really tough to do that when you take yourself too seriously. Honestly, you know, there's a lot to be said for rigor and training and all of that, and having goals, but you know, you got to have fun. Because if it was all about goal setting and doom and gloom, I would never get to the studio. So just giving yourself some time to play is incredibly important. Finding some joy in the process and maybe figuring out ways for yourself to not be in control. You know I was trained really formally, really classically so I really like being in control when I'm drawing and you know I have a joy in drawing realistically. But sometimes you just have to let loose. And one of my very favorite recent projects I've done with some of my college students is making our own drawing tools. And this is something super fun to do and you can just use everyday household objects. So I'm going to show you a few of the things I just found here…
