Set up the course content tab

- [Instructor] The content tab, which is usually accessible from somewhere in the navigation bar, is comprised of several areas including a general overview, a catalog of important bookmarks, and a course schedule. It also functions as a kind of hub for your course. It's the main place students will access course materials and your best chance for clear course organization. When you begin a course, as you see here, you'll have the option of simply importing material, should you choose to do so. If you're building a course from scratch, though, you first need to understand modules and sub-modules. To add a module, simply type your intended module name and then hit enter. Once you've got the module set up, you have several options for adding content. By selecting the upload, create dropdown, you can upload files, capture or record video or audio, add new files or links, or create a variety of new content from within the module itself. If, on the other hand, you've already made this kind of content, select existing activities. For example, if you've already set up a quiz over in the quizzes area, just click on quizzes and you can add the material directly. Of course, as you add material, you'll probably need to create sub-modules, so we're going to add something like reading quizzes. And there you go, the sub-module is now embedded within the parent module. Now we're going to skip ahead slightly while I add a bit more content to our content page. Here we are, that's a bit more robust. Once you've created your content, you can drag and drop, and rearrange elements, both within the table of contents, as well as within the individual modules themselves. Also, like with most course content, you can set accessibility, developing start dates, due dates, or end dates, from within the module editor. If you'd like to edit multiple items at once, simply head up here to the bulk edit tool, which allows you to handle scheduling from multiple components as simultaneously, as well as set whether components are in published or in draft status. And that's how it's done. The appropriate organization strategy for your modules, of course, is going to depend upon the specific course in question. As with most things in D2L, however, you have a lot of flexibility in terms of how you set up your content area.
