- [Narrator] One of the hardest things for anyone to do is to train themselves out of a job. This task is hard for everyone in any role, and there's a lot of insecurity here. Training your replacement so that the job you are currently doing can be done by someone else is a natural source of this insecurity. Yet, as an architect, training and growing the technical skills of the team is a major responsibility of the architect. As the architect for a major application, you are responsible for the growth and training of the engineers working on that application. You may or may not directly train them, but ultimately, you need to make sure the team has the skills they need to build the application. Up-leveling the skills of the team to meet the needs for building and maintaining your application is a constant process. You must mentor less-experienced engineers and help guide their career paths.
