- So in the final lesson I wanted to look for a busy street scene that incorporated all the techniques and principles that we've learned so far in the course. I wanted to include vertical lines of buildings, maybe a range of windows or doorways, street furniture, a wide tonal range in groups of figures. Buildings could be one of the most effective things to give the illusion of perspective for the viewer, so I'm going to be always thinking about my viewing position. I'll be keeping the initial drawing as simple as possible with a vertical line structure method we've used, and then add life and movement from there. So I'll be looking where the light's coming from, and then using blocks of gray to indicate the shadow in these tones, and then bringing the picture to life by adding flashes of color with watercolor. So I'd like to challenge you to look for the same subject. And my top tip is to look for seated people because then you've got the best chance of capturing them without them…
