- Sketching moving figures develops your own style of capturing the moving form, and it's definitely something that gets better the more you do it. If you remember to look for the relationship between the head and the hands, observe the overall gesture, and look for the silhouettes of the head and body shapes, and don't get too hung up on details, it simplifies it and gives your figures life. So I want to challenge you to find a busy cafe or square and practice drawing moving groups of people or a really interesting lone figure. Persevere because sometimes you can start a sketch just before a person was going to move off and then you just have to abandon it. But move onto the next sketch, as often people can hold the same body position more or less just long enough for you to capture the essence of them.
