(gentle piano music) - Whenever I'm sketching in the city, I'm always a sucker for a quick sketch of a bike. The circular shapes of the wheels work so well against simple, crisp architecture. And a wheel at a slight angle can really help to create interesting shadow shapes. They're also a great subject to experiment with different thicknesses of pens, to give you a variety in your lines and your marks. So for this demo of the bike, I've got four different pens. They've all got a different thickness to them. I've got the Pentel brush pen on the left. This is going to be my thickest mark that I'm going to be making. And I've got the Faber Castell pen. This is, again, a fiber tip pen that is good for blocking in the wider shapes here on the bike. Then I've got the Muji 0.5, which is going to be my general finer lines on the drawing, and this really superfine Micron 0.2, the very fine areas of the weave on the basket, and the flex of the cords on the bike handle.
