(sweet piano music) - I was out sketching on the streets of Florence and often when you're out on location, you develop a series of drawings that build on each other as you get to know the area. So I first started sitting down and looking up at this high perspective of a tower in the distance and I really like the glare of the evening sunlight on it. But as I was doing the sketch, I found myself drawn towards the sculpture on the very right hand side. It's got all these figures, intertwined together and these really lovely arches above it. And so I changed my position to get a closer look. I love this combination of having the people walking by in the foreground looking up at the monument, and then the figures, the actual sculptures, and everything was framed within these massive arches above it. I was using the Muji Fine Line Pen; this was 0.5mm and the Pentel Black Brush Pen so I could get some nice darks in there and a real sense of scale. I then twisted my view and moved onto…
