Connect to a remote server

- [Instructor] In most cases, connecting Dreamweaver to the remote server that hosts your website is fairly straightforward. Having said that, it's vital that you get the correct connection details from your hosting company or web administrator before attempting to do so. Specifically, you'll need the following information to access the server. The address of the remote server. This is often expressed as ftp. Followed by a domain name, but it can also be an ip address consisting of four numbers separated by dots. You'll also need to know the connection protocol. Common protocols include FTP, SFTP, and FTPS. The names are confusingly similar. It's important to make sure you know which one your remote server accepts. Dreamweaver supports all three, plus a couple of less common ones. Then of course, you'll need to be able to log in to the server using your login credentials, in other words, your username and password. These are often case sensitive.
