Define a new site
- [Narrator] The first step in building a website in Dreamweaver, even if it's a single page site, is to create a site definition so Dreamweaver knows where to find all your files. In days gone by, site definition in Dreamweaver was a daunting process for beginners. Not anymore! All you need to do is to give the site a name and specify the site root folder. Other details, such as how to log into your remote server, can wait until you're ready to go live on the Internet. You can create a site definition from the QUICK START section of the start screen. Just scroll down and click Site Setup. Alternatively, go to the Site menu and select New Site. Either way opens this dialogue box for site setup. There are two fields to fill in: Site Name and Local Site Folder. The first one, Site Name, is what you want to call your site in Dreamweaver, and the name that you choose will be shown at the top of the files panel. Because it's used only internally, it doesn't matter if it contains spaces…
