Design rule checking (DRC)

- Now that we've established in our schematic view that the electrical rules are looking correct, we'll switch over to the board view, which you see here, and we'll check on our design rules. Now, electrical rules are universal. Electricity works the same way whether you use one manufacturer or another. However, once you decide where you're getting your PCB manufactured, different manufacturers have different pieces of equipment and different rules about how closely components can be laid out, the materials they're made of, and so forth. So, Eagle tells us that they have a very conservative design rule check or DRC. And so if I type in DRC and hit enter, you can see here that we're working from the default Eagle design rules. But it's also possible to download a file called a DRU which are the design rules from a particular board house.
