Electric rule checking (ERC)

- [Instructor] Once our board design has been finalized there's a couple of things we need to check on before we send it out to the manufacturer. And the first is ERC, or electrical rules check. Now this takes place in the schematic view. So if I'm not there already I'll switch over, and then up here at the top I'll type in erc. So you do see that I get both errors and warnings. First of all it's telling us the board and the schematic are consistent, so that's great. And then as I click down through the errors we'll see a line come in from upper left that shows us where these problems are. And sure enough it tells us some things that we kind of already know. We have some unconnected pins sticking out right here. And it was never our goal at least in this particular course to make a really robust and fully functional electrical design, so we know that this is the case and we can go ahead and ignore them.
