Learn how to publish your edited Editor X site.
- [Instructor] So, hurray, you've made it. It's about time to publish this website. We've got all of our pages in place, content, colors, typography. We've done all the settings, we've done everything on the dashboard, we are finally ready to hit the publish button and this is always the moment where you go, oops, I forgot to do something and my oops moment was this button here on the homepage, which had previously said learn more. I changed the text to say view our portfolio and then I made it linked to the portfolio page. Completely blew it on that. When we originally built the homepage, we didn't have any other pages to link it to, so moments like this are times when you just need to review and make sure that buttons and other things you might have left alone for the moment 'cause you didn't have the resource to link to, it's time to revisit those buttons and make sure everything's linked up. Once you've done that, then you are indeed ready to hit the publish button. The publish button is up here in the upper right-hand corner and all you need to do is click it. It'll automatically save for you and then it is going to publish your website to the web address that you specified somewhere in your settings. So, at that point, it'll ask you to upgrade now. Give them money please, so that you can connect it to a custom domain and you can also view the website by clicking on view site, next to that website address. Mine's at jenforweb.editorx.io/topsyturvycakes and you'll notice that because it's the free version, it says up here at the top that it was created on Editor X and you can scroll down and admire all of the hard work that you did to put this website together. The portfolio should have a nice dropdown here. You can jump into the various pages with all of the various layouts. Those are all looking good. Go back to the main portfolio page, double-check your links. Make sure everything goes where you expect it to go, always a smart move that you have linked everything up correctly. Oops, now see? There's an example. That one there. That special occasions picture is linking to the homepage and not back to the portfolio page. So, and the text link is wrong also. So, those are two things I need to fix. The frostings page looks like it's looking pretty good there and then testing the contact form, filling out the information here, hitting the submit button, making sure that that goes where it needs to go are all appropriate things to do. So, the only change we need to make then is to go back to the portfolio page and we need to make sure this is linking to the right page. We're going to link back to special occasions will link to the special occasions page. The text down here, edit the text, change the link and the link needs to go to the special occasions page. Done. Okay, so once again, we can save that. We can publish that. Perfect and then view the site again. Go back to the portfolio page. Let's double-check that the special occasions link, nope it still doesn't. Maybe it's been cached. There we go. It was just cached there. Always worth checking. So, that one worked correctly and when we go here, that worked also, excellent. So, that is what you need in order to publish your website and double-check it, make sure it's all working correctly. So, congratulations, you have created your first website in Editor X.
