In addition to clearly defining classroom procedures, having classroom rules written out and clearly posted. Can help students understand your expectations and what will happen if they don't meet those expectations. Here are a few key things to writing some classroom rules. First, keep it simple. I recommend limiting yourself to no more than ten class rules. These rules should cover how students communicate with each other and you. Your expectations for work time, and that students are expected to follow procedures 100% of the time. Second, make sure the rules are visible to students. Having the rules posted and referring to them when students misbehave, can help build accountability in your classroom.
