Absolute value inequalities

- [Instructor] So whenever we encounter an inequality with an absolute value in it, we have to remember they're usually going to be two solutions to the inequality. So in this video we'll go over how to find both solutions. So just a refresher, remember the absolute value of a number is basically the distance of that number from zero. So the absolute value of negative two is two. And the absolute value of positive two, also two. So what if we had an absolute value inequality? Let's say we had the absolute value of x minus four. These signs, these lines are used to signify absolute value. Is less than eight. So we just have to remember this quirk of this type of question. There's two solutions. The way that I like to think about it. Solution number one: just pretend these absolute value bars are not there, and solve the inequality. So we're just going to rewrite it, as if, those absolute value bars didn't exist. And we'll solve by adding four to both sides. We'll end up with x is less…
