- [Instructor] Another type of media we can include in our Captivate projects to make them more interesting is video. There are a number of different video file formats you can bring into a project. You can have it play across one or more slides. You can even have it sit as a separate object on your slide, that's what we're going to explore in this movie with our Red 30 New Hire Orientation project 0402 if you're catching up. We're going to go down to a slide that's almost empty, slide seven, our R & D robotics. Go ahead and give that thumbnail a click. All we have is a title, and then down below a fluid box where we have nothing. If we want the video below the title so we can see both, we would select the fluid box first. That way when we bring in the video, it will appear there. If we don't select anything, it automatically takes up the entire slide. And there is an option to always do that as well. So let's click inside the fluid box. Go up to media drop down, this time choose video. Now you'll see the two different options at the top. Event video is a single event on our slide. Slide video fills the slide and can even play across multiple slides if needed. We want an event video, and I have it for you on your computer if you have the exercise files all you have to do is click browse to browse to the chapter four folder where you'll find one called Robots. Just hover over it, you'll see it's an MP4 file. Down in the bottom right hand corner, you'll see there's many different formats that can be brought in. And if you click it you'll see there's our MP4, but AVIs, FLV files, MOV files, all of those other ones get converted to MP4 for the project, so that's what we have already. There won't be any conversion necessary. With Robots selected, click open. Now you can see it appear in the path and you're ready to click okay. The other option is to grab video from an Adobe media streaming service if you've already deployed it there. If you know the URL you can go and find it and grab it from there. But we're using a file that is in your exercise files. It's selected, we'll click okay and it will be fit right into the fluid box down below. Notice it comes with some default buttons, play, pause, and stop. If there's any audio, there's a little speaker button in the bottom right-hand corner. That's all part of what we call the skin and as you can see down here in our properties we have the type of downloaded video showing up here. There's the name, Robots MP4. We can have it automatically play, automatically rewind, and change the skin if we don't like what we see here. It's pretty plain with some buttons in the bottom left corner, the speaker in the bottom right. But you can see there's a number of other ones to choose from. Going to try halo skin two with the minimum width. You can see it's just the play button, there's a play bar if you prefer that. Go ahead and try some of these others ones. Clear skin, you can see through the play bar in this case. And lets try corona. There, it's kind of faded into the background. I like this one, I'm going to keep it. You can choose whatever you like. We're ready to preview. Let's go up to the preview drop down and preview from this slide. So as you can see, it's copying the assets. Remember, everything that we bring in, audio files, video files, we can then access from the library at any time if we want to re-use them. We're ready to play this slide, let's go ahead. And you can see it automatically play. There really isn't any audio so we don't have to worry about the volume. And it automatically moves on to the next slide because of our slide timings. We can close this up, clicking the close button to our browser to return back to our Captivate project. So if we double-click the timeline and take a look, you're going to see the video object has been added. We can label this up here at the top, video object instead of just three how about Robotics. In case we add more video, we'll know exactly what we're working with on the timeline. In this case, it's about three seconds. We can increase the time for our slide if we wanted to. And automatically rewind and play. That will work out if for any reason the slide duration is longer than the video. But that's all there is to adding some cool media to your project. With video, you're really making it visually interesting for your learners.
