- [Instructor] So for the GMAT we'll need to know a few things about probability. In this video, I'll talk about the basics of calculating the probability of an event. So perhaps the most basic we can get is if we think of flipping a coin. What are the chances that we get heads on a coin flip? Well, one half right? Because we either get tails or heads. So if we think about how that breaks down, it shows us the formula for calculating probability. On the top of the fraction that I just drew is the number of things or events that we want, and on the bottom of the fraction is the total number of possibilities. So if we think about how that breaks down for our coin flip, there are two possibilities, and we want heads, so the probability of getting heads is one over two. Show you a little bit more of a complicated example. Let's say I have a jar full of jelly beans, and let's say there are eight blue, 10 red, and seven yellow, and you want to figure out the odds of pulling out a red…
