- [Instructor] So one of the mistakes I often see students make with reading comprehension questions is that they try to answer the question before they really know what they're looking for at all. So in this video we'll go over a basic question answering step-by-step, and I'll explain why having a process can be helpful. Step one, read the question. This is worth writing out as a step because I don't want you to take it for granted. You cannot shortcut the process of reading the question. And you might be tempted to shortcut it because you're pressed for time. But read the question. Might want to hover your cursor above it on the screen. Then you want to find and read the relevant area of the passage. So the question will probably point you to a particular area of the passage unless it's like a main idea question or a primary purpose question.
