Decimals

- There are a few things we have to go over regarding decimals and how they are tested on the GMAT. Decimal places, repeating and terminating decimals, and how to multiply and divide with decimals. So let's start off with decimal places. So if I give you a number, hopefully you can tell me what place everything stands for. So what if I said, 123.678 and I said, well what place is this one, that's the ones. Two is the tens, and one is the hundreds place. If you think about that, that hopefully makes sense. There's a one hundred in this number, there's a twenty, then there's a three added together. The six, this is the tenths place. The seven is the hundredths... and the eight is the thousandths place. So just in case you're ever asked about which place a number stands for in a decimal. So repeating decimals are decimals that literally go on forever, so this would be an example like 1/3, let's say.
