Developing a learning objective

- Let's pretend that we want to go on a trip. We jump in the car and we start driving. As time passes you turn to me and ask, "Where are we going today?" we going today?" It's nice to say we're off on a trip, but if we don't have a destination, what's the purpose? This is what it's like when you don't have learning objectives. Your participants expect to go somewhere and it's that destination that probably attracted them to the course in the first place. Developing or adapting learning objectives ensures that participants are successful in their learning efforts. But setting objectives is more than simply telling what they'll learn, but rather you need to make it actionable. A quick tool for you to develop learning objective is applying the ABCD model. Where "A" is knowing your audience. "B" is defining the behavior you want to see. "C" is for specifying the conditions for how your participants will apply the knowledge. And "D" is the degree of knowledge they require. For example…
