- Think back to a time you sat in a class where you weren't able to grasp the topic. Did you feel frustrated? Confused? Desperate for answers? All of these things. Now, think back to a time where you excelled at learning a topic. How did that feel? It's not that you were less capable in one course over another. But perhaps it was a learning approach used by the instructor. Effective trainers recognize that when it comes to getting people to learn, one size does not fit all. They try to adapt and build in variety into their learning approach. But fundamentally they follow 3 common learning approaches, which are known as Behaviorist, Cognitive and Humanist. First, is the behaviorist approach. This approach involves modeling, practice and feedback. A little known fact, my first job was at Burger King.
