Either/or probability

- [Instructor] So some other GMAT math questions might involve calculating the probability either of one event or another event or of both events. So in this video, we'll discuss a couple of scenarios in which this might apply. So let's say that I had a die and I'll just draw my rendition of it So, let's say it's a six sided die, labeled one through six what are the chances that I'll roll either a two or a three on that die? So, if I think about my probability equation the number of things that I want to happen divided by the number of my total possibilities. The easy way to think about this situation is that there are two things I want divided by six possibilities. So, our probability of rolling either a two or a three is two out of six, which reduces to one out of three. Another way to think about that would've been to just add probability of rolling a two to probability of rolling a three and we would've gotten the same answer. This is a little more complicated when we have events…
