- Insights. We all have them from time to time. You know what I mean, those aha moments. When a new perception or idea seems to emerge out of nowhere. When somehow, immediately, and inexplicably we come to a new discovery, realization, or conclusion. Sometimes these insights occur after we've been working on a problem for a long time, and we're struggling to find a solution. And then like a bolt of lightning, suddenly and unexpectedly, what had been so elusive becomes crystal clear. But why do insights matter? What role do they play in the learning process? Research suggests that having insights, which are actually a form of generation, help people learn. Specifically, they aid in recall, drive learner motivation and engagement, and prompt learners to generalize lessons learned to new contexts.
