Generalize your research

- The term generalized can sound like the wrong one to use in research studies. Your research paper is supposed to be direct and focused on a specific topic, so your research can be reliable and valid. So why do we then want to generalize the findings? Think about it this way. The goal of your research is not to dilute the findings, but to create clarity so the findings can be expanded and projected to fit the larger population. A digital image is a good example. A picture with low resolution may look fine in the corner of a website, but if you try to expand it to fit the computer window or beyond, you see the pixels rather than the clear image. Your research is designed to increase the pixels of your study, so the findings can be projected across a larger space. Quantitative research uses scalability, or the ability to standardize an experience for a participant to increase the number of research respondents for a study.
