- Feedback is important for student learning. As parents, we have to be careful to provide feedback in a way that allows our students to grow as learners and individuals. Did you ever get a paper or project back from a teacher covered in red ink? Did you take that feedback to heart and learn from it or did it just make you feel like, wow, I stink at this. When we're checking in to see how our children are doing, there are lots of ways to give feedback without breaking out that red pen of failure. We can have discussions, problem solve together, have children's self-reflect or use rubrics to give more constructive and beneficial feedback to kids. Some people believe that they're either good at things or they aren't. This is a fixed mindset. The idea that you're good at math, or you're not, you're good at reading or you're not and that is the end of your story. A growth mindset sees the world in a different way. If you…
