Main idea questions

- [Narrator] Main idea questions differ from primary purpose questions so we need to discuss them separately. Primary purpose questions were often asked what role the passage has, what its job is. Whereas main idea questions are often designed to test whether you understand the author's most important point that he or she makes. So in this video, we'll check out a typical GMAT's reading comprehension and main idea question. So here we have our passage and what I want you to recognize about main idea questions, they're probably going to be questions that ask about something discussed in a high percentage of the passage. Like in this passage, we can kind of see at a glance the letters TQM are kind of everywhere. So the question about TQM might be a main idea question, if it wasn't more specific than that.
