- [Instructor] When lines are parallel to each other, predictable things will happen when a transversal, or a line that intersects those parallel lines, crosses them. This video will show you what you need to know about the angles created by a transversal. If these lines are parallel, that means they continue forever and ever without ever touching, and a transversal would just be a line that intersects them both, like so. Well this creates some angle equalities that are pretty predictable, in fact completely predictable. So if that angle is X, remember the opposite angle would be X as well. If we call this angle Y, right there, we now know that this angle and this angle are X as well. That's one of the parallel line rules. Because these two lines are parallel the same angles will be created here by the same transversal. Likewise this would be Y as well, and so would this, and of course these are opposite, so that would be Y as well. These are things you just need to be able to…
