Quadrilaterals

- [Instructor] So in math speak, quadrilaterals are four sided shapes like squares, rectangles, or trapezoids. In this video we'll talk about some useful things to know about these shapes. So we'll start with area. So the area of a square or a rectangle, and squares are rectangles, so rectangle is just a shape with four right angles in it. The area of a rectangle is going to be the height times the base, so base times height equals the area. Luckily enough, we have another quadrilateral with the exact same formula for area, parallelograms. So a parallelogram looks kind of like this, so these sides are in parallel, and so are these sides, this angle equals this angle, and then this angle equals this angle, and guess what? Area's still base times height. And then I want to give you the area of a trapezoid. So a trapezoid looks kind of like this, and we'll call this base one, and we'll call this base two, and then that is the height. So the area of a trapezoid is one half base one plus…
