Sentence correction basics
- [Instructor] You'll know you're looking at a GMAT sentence correction question very quickly. It's going to one sentence with part of all of the sentence underlined. In this video, we'll go over the basics of sentence correction questions and talk about what to expect from them. So a sentence correction question is one sentence with an underlined portion. These make up about 1/3 of verbal questions. Choice A, remember, is going to be the exact same sentence as the prompt, so that's like a no change option. Then choices B, C, D, and E are all going to be different options with different changes to the sentence. So these mainly test grammar, things like subject of verb agreement, pronoun inconsistency, things like that. Clarity, they want to make sure you use the most clear version of the sentence to convey its meaning. And then they test diction, which is things like appropriate word choice for normal English usage. And also the ability to minimize wordiness, to avoid things like…
