- Okay, this is my big reading plan. Are you ready? Read everyday. That's what I ask of my kids. Sometimes we talk about what they're reading, but that's it. Your school might have their own reading suggestions or requirements, but as a parent, my goal is to help my children value and love reading. I've never met a child that did not like books. However, over the years, I've worked with many, many kids who had not yet found the right books. Albert Einstein said if you want your children to be intelligent, read them fairy tales. If you want them to be more intelligent, read them more fairy tales. Our children have complete control over the types and titles of books that they read. Sometimes they choose dessert reading, books that are too easy for them. That's okay. They get bored of them quickly and move on to something more challenging.
