Deciding on what visuals to use

Regardless of whether you script, outline or make up your movies as you go along, in all cases, you'll have to decide beforehand what visuals will accompany what you're saying. This is going to depend almost entirely on the subject you're teaching, but I wanted to take a few minutes here to offer a couple of suggestions that you might find useful when collecting or creating the assets for your movies. Generally, your visuals will fall into one of two categories, screen capture or live action. Screen capture refers to recording what's displayed on your computer screen. If you're teaching a software product, you'll run a screen capture program in the background, which records every movement you make on screen so your viewers will be able to see exactly what you're doing. Screen capture software programs usually can record from your microphone or audio input as well, so your viewers will be able to hear what you're saying as they watch you work or demonstrate on screen.
