Dos and don'ts

Now I'd like to discuss a handful of tips and suggestions that you might find useful as you go about recording your training videos. I can't speak to any specific application since I can't predict what applications or material you're going to be teaching, but here are some basic dos and don'ts. First of all, have your notes ready. Whether you outlined your movies or scripted them entirely, make sure you have all your notes next to you and accessible before you hit record. Also, if your notes are on paper, make sure you're not adjusting pages as you record and be sure to pause a few seconds before and after turning pages. You don't want your viewers to hear stuff like this as you're speaking and it's easy to edit those sounds out as long as you're not talking over them. Now, instead of keeping your notes on paper, you may want to read them from your laptop.
