One of the most important things to figure out before you start planning and recording your video tutorials is determining who your audience will be. This is sometimes one of the most difficult things to figure out as well. In all likelihood, you don't want your videos to be too advanced so that they go over the heads of the people watching your course. But at the same time, you don't want the material to be so basic that even the beginners are bored. So the first thing to ask yourself is, who is my audience? For whom are you making these videos? For example, a while back I was developing a course called Computer Literacy for the Mac. The goal was to create a course aimed at the complete computer novice. Now while that may appear to be a pretty specific group of people, I still had to spend some time figuring out exactly what novice meant in this case.
