The basics of editing

In this movie, I want to cover the basics of editing your video tutorial. I'm not going to get into the details about working with specific tools since you could be editing your movies in any number of video editing applications. You might be using screen capture programs with built-in editing tools like Camtasia Studio or Screenflow, or you may be using a separate editor like Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro, Windows Movie Maker, or Apple iMovie which is what I have open here. Each of these programs works a little differently, and you'll find training for all of them at lynda.com. But what I'm going to show you here are the basic ideas and techniques for editing your tutorials which you should be able to apply regardless of the editing application you end up using. So for this example, I'm just using iMovie on the Mac. I have a short example video I've created in which I've deliberately included some mistakes so we can look at how to fix them.
