- Recently I had two meetings, one video conference with someone I had never met and a face to face meeting with someone I had worked with for several years online, but had never met face to face. Both encounters reminded me of how critical the human face is in making personal connections with others. In a blended course, we have the advantage of having some face to face sessions with our students to make those strong personal connections, but a portion of our time is spent online and for some, this can be an isolating experience. Being able to incorporate video of our faces can help strengthen and maintain that connection for our students. Here are a couple of tips and ideas for recording your face. Start by recording a short introduction of yourself and your course. Then, make short video introductions for each week, unit, or chapter to orient your students to what's coming up in the course.
