Starting Enscape from Revit

- [Instructor] To start Enscape, first, go to the Enscape tab on the ribbon, then over on the left hand side, you'll see a start button. Well, there's also an option here for what's called Active document. And right now pretty much our only option is really Site Option One, you'll see if I try to click on it, I get a pull down, and I have 3D and Site Option One, well usually will show up here on this pull down, will happen to be whatever's here underneath the 3D views. And I do want it to see Site Option One, which is the view that I currently have open. What I'll do is I'll just click on the start button, and that will launch Enscape. And it will try to launch Enscape with that Site Option One as an option, you may have noticed a message that popped up here at the bottom of the screen, saying that my graphics card was old and something to the effect of it may not work with Enscape. But what happens in that situation is that my computer is only about two years old. And what that means is that even though my graphics card is plenty strong enough in order to be able to run Enscape. Enscape is saying I don't recognize the name of the graphics card or maybe the version number of the drivers associated with this graphics card. I don't think that it's supported. I'm going to give you an error message just in case things don't look right. Most of the time, you could ignore it, you'll know whether or not it's working right or not. Because once that file actually opens up, you'll either be able to move around inside of it, it'll look okay, or else it won't. In my case, it's going to work just fine. Also, you may notice that it's taking a while to actually see the model here inside of that Enscape environment. what's occurring is, is that it's looking at each of the objects inside of that Revit environment. And very specifically inside of that view that was selected inside of Revit. Anything that was turned on inside of that view, will get the opportunity to be rendered here inside of Enscape. Now if you happen to have a small model, this could take 30 seconds to actually open an Enscape, if you have a medium size model two, three minutes isn't unheard of, I've seen models take seven, eight, 10 minutes to launch inside of Enscape. If they were actually very large, but for the most part, it's somewhat quick. And then after you've done it the first time, it's much faster to move around inside of Enscape. Because it's loaded all that information in then it's just a matter of moving around and viewing your model there inside of the Enscape environment. Also Enscape is going to look like it's a completely separate program from Revit, which it is. That being said, even though it's a separate program from Revit, the vast majority of the commands that run it, other than some of the basic navigation commands are actually found on the ribbon going across the top here, also, and you may or may not see this, but this happens on my own computer is when I finally launch Enscape. These are the commands and do notice that I can see more of my buttons whenever I've launched Enscape. And some of the earlier versions it didn't used to do that. I'm not exactly sure why it does that now whenever you actually start the software program, but now that I've actually have started the software program, we can see each one of these buttons that are available to us. Also, if your resolution is just a little bit different for your computer monitor or you have a larger computer monitor, you'll just never see these buttons, they'll just show up as being segments of this ribbon going across the top of Enscape. Now we're just waiting for Enscape to actually start in just a minute it should come open on this screen and when it comes open on the screen, we can take a look at essentially this view and how Enscape is going to render it. Once Enscape loads up, it should come open on your screen, I will mention that sometimes Enscape will just stay minimized on your screen if it goes away at all. If that happens, you may need to go down to your taskbar in Windows and then click on Enscape in order to actually launch the Enscape window. And here we can see the way that this model looks being rendered inside of Enscape. I'll make one quick mention to before we go on to other videos which go on to discuss actually moving around inside the Enscape environment. If you wanted to get a feel for the most basic movement inside of Enscape, all you need to do is just click somewhere inside of the view and then you can spin the Wheel of your mouse and by spinning the wheel the mouse you'll either zoom forward or zoom back just by spinning the wheel of your mouse.
