- [Instructor] Excel gives us tools 2 not only for calculating differences 3 between dates, but also between times. 4 Typically, if we're measuring time differences, 5 we've got a starting time and ending time, 6 and a simple formula here, subtracting the two, 7 and we always want to be subtracting the later time minus 8 the earlier time, equal the later 9 time minus the earlier time, 10 we get an answer. 11 Now, as is often the case when you work with times, 12 you get funny results based on the format. 13 The actual answer here is five hours and 49 minutes, 14 but the AM throws us a bit. 15 Very often, when you're working with times, 16 you'll need to go into format cells, 17 and you can get there quickly 18 with Ctrl + 1 time category. 19 Most of the time, when you're making changes, 20 you'll either change to 13:30 or the 1:30 p.m. 21 This as the AM PM indicator, we don't want that here. 22 13:30 allows us to…
