- Excel has a number of different protection schemes 2 and you'll find a number of them on the review tab 3 in the Protect group. 4 And one of these, 5 not so well known, is called Allow Edit Ranges. 6 We can actually allow different users to have passwords 7 to get them into certain columns, but not other columns, 8 and doesn't necessarily have to be columns, but any range. 9 Imagine a scenario where different people are allowed 10 to work with this workbook. 11 Some of them will be allowed to make changes in column G. 12 Maybe some others might be allowed 13 to make changes in column H and maybe some people in both. 14 The idea is we can give a password to ranges 15 and then when we protect the sheet from that point onward, 16 only those users who know those passwords can make changes 17 in those specific areas. 18 Let's start with the idea too, 19 that we want to allow anybody using this 20 to make changes in columns A…
