- [Instructor] Excel has a number 2 of lookup and reference functions, 3 and foremost among them are the VLOOKUP function, 4 it's companion, HLOOKUP, 5 and also INDEX, and MATCH. 6 They're listed here in column A down at row 12. 7 Now, in this particular worksheet, 8 there's a list off to the right, 9 and you can imagine this being much, much larger 10 with many, many more items. 11 And instead of months down here, 12 maybe we might have weeks. 13 So, a model like this could be expanded easily. 14 What we would like to be able to do 15 is to enter a month in cell B2, 16 enter a product in cell B3, 17 and then return the dollar sales 18 for that particular combination. 19 So, May printers, for example, 20 we'd like to see this number, 12,698. 21 And the bigger the model, 22 the more valuable this approach is going to be. 23 So, which of these functions is going to work? 24 Invariably, it will take a combination…
