- [Instructor] One of Excel's most powerful 2 and creative tools is called a pivot table. 3 And when you work with large amounts of data, 4 list type data, pivot table is great for coming up 5 with quick summary information. 6 It has standard techniques for grouping data, say, 7 by date or time, but you can also create 8 your own custom groupings. 9 I'm going to create a pivot table based on this data. 10 It's some 900 rows, it covers data over a two-year period. 11 We're tracking sales by different salespeople here. 12 On the insert tab in the ribbon, 13 we can create a pivot table. 14 And in Excel 2013, 15 there's a new feature called recommended pivot tables. 16 Give that a chance because sometimes the layouts 17 that you see here might be, if not exact, at least close 18 to something that you might want. 19 So as I'm looking through this list here, I'm thinking, 20 well, this list here that shows the labels…
