Develop charts with the Recommended Charts feature
- [Instructor] Sometimes when you create a chart, you're not sure what kind of chart you want to use. Could it be column, line, bar? At other times, you might say, well I think what kind of chart I want, but I want to see some other options as well. In other words, rather than highlighting data, creating a chart and saying, no I don't like that type, why not get some previews? So different approaches here as we highlight the data on this worksheet called DataSelection. If we want to create a chart based on the data from cells A2 over and down to G6, we highlight the data, and we go that Insert tab on the ribbon. And in the Charts group, leftmost choice, Recommended Charts, and the description is, Want us to recommend a good chart to showcase your data? Well, of course, let's click it. And we see some choices. Now, for the selected data here, we're seeing a column chart, line chart, stacked column. Here's an area chart. Maybe we hadn't thought about that. Is that a good chart here?…
