Display large values without using formulas
- When you are working with large values sometimes the numbers just overwhelm you. And there's certainly nothing wrong with the entries as we see them in column B, the population of states around 2010 or so. And the sales numbers that we are seeing here, they're easy enough to read, but on the other hand, if someone asked you the population and you're looking at this, you'd say, oh it's 37.7 million. Say something like that, or 25.3 million or something. Why not display those numbers? And we can do that without having to use any math. It's a formatting technique. So, let's do this with the population column here. By going to Format Cells, CTRL 1, is an easy way to get there. We've got the opportunity here to first choose Custom. Now you can start with almost any of the early entries here. I'm going to use this one right here, and then click in the panel right under here, this says Type Now who would ever guess that putting in a trailing comma means don't show three places immediately…
