How and when to use an area chart

- [Instructor] On this worksheet, 2 we're tracking sales in columns A, B, and C. 3 We see the identifier in column A for a two year period, 4 mid-2017 into mid-2019, 5 and we'd like to create a chart. 6 Because this data is surrounded by empty cells 7 and worksheet boundaries, 8 we don't even have to highlight the data. 9 We can click anywhere within it, 10 and quickly get a chart with Alt F1. 11 And a default chart type in Excel is 12 what we call a clustered column chart. 13 And that may not be the best chart, 14 although it's certainly readable, 15 and we can drag the corner, make it wider, and all that. 16 So that could be an ideal chart. 17 To track a trend, sometimes it's considered better 18 to at least look, 19 not necessarily choose, 20 but to look at a line chart. 21 So the chart's been selected. 22 Anytime you create a chart, 23 you'll have either a Design tab and a Format tab, 24 or if you're using…
