Importance of the time and crew assessment
- Pre-budget production planning is a rough plan of the people, equipment, and time required to complete your working concept. Similar to the client and self assessments, a time and crew assessment will help you create the data needed to plug into your budget. Now while the concept and budget will probably change as you move through the production review process with your client, it's important to have as many specifics as possible at this stage. As I mentioned before, a budget can go down, but it's very difficult, if not impossible, to raise your budget because you forgot something. We'll develop these specifics using six steps. Laying out the project timeline. Roughly laying out the timeline of the entire project from start to finish. Assigning crew positions, a need versus want. Putting together a full list or a wish list of needed crew, whether they are employees or freelancers. Planning equipment and cast needs. Putting together all of the equipment and cast you think you'll need…
