- We're looking at a worksheet called Key Shortcuts, and over in columns M through S, we got a depiction of, more or less, the top row of keys that you find on most keyboards. Next to the numbers 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, we see the symbols above those on the same keys and also the key to the left of it. Along with the control and shift key, if you use these keys, you will be applying particular formats. We're not necessarily going to be covering them left to right but we will mention them in context with some of the data that we have here. In column A we've got some numbers there, and often as we exceed three digits, we like to see commas there. So I'm going to click column A, we can be using the number format, that would be control shift one. Sometimes when you see these referred to in books, you'll see them referred to as, for example, control shift one, or control shift exclamation point, either way.
