- [Instructor] Excel has any number of different formats to display dates. The way we're seeing the dates displayed in column A is probably most typical, as we see them in the United States, that is. This is also equivalent to a feature found on the Home tab in the ribbon in the number group. It's referred to as Short Date. Now there are other possibilities. The Ms and the Ds and Ys that we see here across row 1, the meaning of those is reflected in the blue panel that we see to the right. And as we work with these from time to time, we might want to create our own. Now, a number of these are built-in. What I'm going to do first of all is fill in these cells with the data from cell A2. Simply write a formula equal A2, but I'll press the function key F to make sure there's a dollar sign in front of the A.
